University of St. Augustine Hosts 15th Annual 5K and Health and Fun Fair
On Saturday, March 29, the Florida campus of the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences hosted its 15th annual 5K and Health and Fun Fair. More than 250 runners/walkers registered for the event, and over 150 people, including students and faculty, volunteered to support it. The free health fair also included screenings, local medical providers, and post-race massages.
The 5K raised more than $3,000 for the Wildflower Clinic, a local nonprofit clinic that provides medical, dental, psychological, vision, women’s health, physical therapy, and other services to individuals below the poverty level. Over the past 15 years, the event has raised more than $45,000 for local charities.”Those who attended the event had a wonderful time, made memories and helped raise funds for Good Samaritan Health Centers, Inc., The Wild Flower Clinic,” said Dr. Amanda Grant, a full-time faculty member who has directed the event for three years. She is a 2006 USA graduate, and has been part of the race for 10 years.
