Universidade Salvador Celebrates Second Graduating Class from Gastromotiva Program

In late June, Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS), in partnership with the NGO Gastromotiva, celebrated the graduation of more than 40 students from the Gastromotiva program, which was designed to provide young people with specific training to aid them in securing a job in the culinary arts sector. The special event at the university’s Paralela campus was attended by friends and family of the graduating students, who were the second to complete the Gastromotiva program at UNIFACS.
“Salvador needs a program like this and UNIFACS could not pass on the opportunity to host a Gastromotiva program that not only develops exceptional professionals, but promotes good citizenship. This is the goal of our university,” said Rector Marcia Barros. “This is just the first step. For those that completed the program, our university has a number of other education programs that may be of interest. The sky is your only limit,” she added.
Tiago Curvo, professor of culinary arts, and Tarsila Lima, the coordinator of the Gastromotiva program in Salvador, were recognized by the students for their focus and dedication to the students and program. In 2006, the program launched at Universidade Anhembi Morumbi in Sao Paulo, and has provided support to more than 1,300 young people. Silvia Carla Quirino, a graduating student, said being in the program has changed her life by opening her eyes to a new professional path.
