Universidade Anhembi Morumbi Student Youngest Ever to Receive Carlos Gomes

Lucas Mendes de Oliveira, a fifth semester advertising and public relations student at Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, received the Carlos Gomes Medal for Cultural Merit from the Ministry of Culture. Lucas was recognized for his direction, script writing and production of eight short films. Among the titles are “Garden of Men” (2013), “The View” (2013) and “The Chicken Rotten Eggs” (2014).

Mendes de Oliveira’s film work was recognized by arts, film, music, and literature critics. The experimental language he uses was cited as one reason he was recognized at such a young age with this national award and was praised by members of the São Paulo Association of Art Critics (APCA). The student will be part of the group of renowned Commanders of Cultural Merit, he is the youngest member to receive this title.

For Mendes de Oliveira, the knowledge gained during his degree program was used in the development of advertising videos and movies. He attributed the recognition to all who encouraged his work, including his teachers and coordinators. “Teachers have always motivated me to continue, they expanded my understanding of audiovisual media and gave me the freedom to develop and work with a new experimental language. Earning this recognition from renowned leaders in the arts is an incentive to continue my career,” said the winner.
