Universidade Anhembi Morumbi Alumna Recognized at SIRHA Rio de Janeiro 2015

Giovanna Grossi, a graduate of the Gastronomia culinary arts program at UAM, became the first woman to win the national level of the Bocuse D’Or competition, which is considered to be the world cup of culinary arts. The competition took place at SIRHA, Le Salon International de la Restauration, de L’Hôtellerie et de L`Alimentation, in Rio de Janeiro. Giovanna will represent Brazil in the Latin American regional level of the competition in Mexico in 2016. During this competition, three professionals will be selected to represent the region in the global finals in Lyon, France in 2017.

Students from the culinary arts program at IBMR played a key role in the event by volunteering their time to support one of the leading international events in hospitality management and culinary arts. The 85 IBMR students helped the chefs who were preparing food, monitored the VIP lounge and wine tastings and assisted the jury. “It was great to see our students getting involved and doing such a great job of showing the community everything they have learned in this important field,” said Rosa Moraes, director of hospitality management for Laureate Brazil.
