Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana Students Join Global Shapers Honduras

Two students from Universidad Tecnológica Centroamericana (UNITEC), Óscar Canales and Nilson Élvir, are among sixteen young people between 20 and 30 years of age who will make up the Global Shapers community in Honduras. Global Shapers is an organization that seeks to create a better future through social projects and entrepreneurship.

This initiative is based on support from the World Economic Forum, a nonprofit foundation based in Geneva, Switzerland, that is committed to improving the state of the world by engaging business leaders, politicians, academics and other personalities of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.

This organization brought together sixteen outstanding Honduran young people to positively impact the community and to become leaders and visionaries for planning at local, regional and global levels.

“My main goal is to have a positive impact on the community, because as a psychology student I know the importance of dignity. Working with other shapers and community residents will be very rewarding personally and professionally,”

said Canales.

Meanwhile, Elvir, who is enrolled in the bachelor of finance program, believes, “The most impressive part of this initiative is that members of Global Shapers are chosen from different areas of community involvement, some stand out in academics, art, politics, science, health, business, among others.”

Laureate congratulates these two young students, whose desire to improve the living conditions of the disadvantaged drew the attention of a global organization like the World Economic Forum.
