Universidad Privada de Ciencias Aplicadas Professor Wins National Journalism Award

Professor Beatriz Jiménez, from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas’ (UPC) School of Communication and Journalism won the National Journalism Award from the Institute for Media and Society.
Professor Jiménez was recognized for her work, which is focused on the pharmaceutical business in Peru. She wrote a series of 16 articles that focused on the elevated cost of drugs, irregularities in some surveys of minors and the impact of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). Her work also earned her the Award for Best Written Report.
“In this project, I started with the question of why medicine in Peru is so expensive. In the course of the research, I spoke with hundreds of people, organizations and employees.” Through her work as a journalist and professor she has made a positive impact on public policies focused on health services in Peru.
