Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas Recognized Among Top 10 Peruvian Universities in Research
Universidad Peurana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) has for the first time been recognized among the top 10 universities in terms of scientific research in Peru, according to the latest report from the Ibero-American Scimago Institutions Rankings (SIR) 2014, which analyzes the scientific production of universities in Latin America.
Moving up three positions since the last ranking, UPC is ranked eighth in the latest ranking which is based on a number of indicators: scientific production, ratio of international collaboration, normalized impact, proportion of high-quality publications, specialization index, ratio of excellence, scientific leadership and excellence in leadership.
The latest rankings were developed by the Scimago Research Group based on the number of scientific articles published over a period of five years between 2008 and 2012 in journals indexed in the Scopus database.
UPC’s academic vice rector, Dr. José Pereyra said, “Thanks to the policies and objectives of the university’s research to date, we have approximately 100 research projects this year and we expect to climb another two or three positions in the next rankings due to the increase in the number of projects that have occurred since 2013.”
UPC thanks and congratulates all researchers, teachers and students, especially in the faculty of health sciences, who have made this breakthrough. It encourages the academic community to continue consolidating UPC’s culture of research.
