Universidad Latina and Real Madrid Foundation Celebrates Children’s Day in Costa Rica

In September, the Real Madrid School of Sports in Costa Rica, Universidad Latina de Costa Rica (ULatina) and Globalvía Ruta 27, celebrated Children’s Day with more than 100 children from the Guararí de Heredia community and their families. Activities for the day included a special networking breakfast, children’s games, and a friendly game of soccer played between employees of GlobalVía Ruta 27 and the children from the school.

“The Sports School Partnership with the Real Madrid Foundation was created more than three years ago in Costa Rica to help young people from socio-economically challenged and vulnerable communities, like Guararí de Heredia, to develop a love of soccer. This provides these young people with an outlet to exercise, while they learn about the values of teamwork, respect and perseverance,”

said Lourdes Brizuela, director of community engagement and social responsibility at ULatina.

“The children of the school started three years ago and have shown that in addition to exercise, they have better teamwork skills, more self-confidence and better academic outcomes. They have also gained a head start on university studies through access to special programs at Universidad Latina,” added Brizuela.

The outcomes are based on studies carried out by the university’s psychology school.
