Universidad Andrés Bello Student Wins Entrepreneurship Competition

Carolina Guerrero, a mechanical engineering student from Universidad Andrés Bello, and two friends won the Jump Chile competition for E-Kaia, a device that creates electricity from plants and natural resources.

“Our team consists of three members, all women, who are interested in technology and creating products that help people and care for the environment. Thanks to our studies and motivations we have created E-Kaia, a device that uses energy from plants and other natural sources to create electricity. It’s environmentally friendly and does not rely on the electrical grid,”

said Guerrero.

“We were looking for opportunities to finance our idea and leapt at the opportunity to participate in Jump Chile 2013. The university supported us and believed in our ideas. They have given us their support and encouragement throughout the entire process,”

added Guerrero.

In the near future, Guerrero expects to address the challenges in E-Kaia’s business model. “We created a good business model thanks to the knowledge gained in the whole process of Jump Chile. This will help us to represent Chile in the International Business Model Competition, to be held in May this year, and continue to generate opportunities for our enterprise.”

“We believe that in the future more people will dare to present their ideas and participate openly in a world where it is increasingly possible to fulfill your dreams and realize your ideas with funding and competitions that support entrepreneurship in Chile,”

said Guerrero.
