UNIFACS Hosts Laureate Brazil 2015 Young Social Entrepreneurs Award

For the first time, the city of Salvador hosted the Laureate Brazil Young Social Entrepreneurs Award at a ceremony held on Nov. 19 at Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS). The event was attended by 12 young social entrepreneurs whose projects were selected by the YouthActionNet programs at Universidade Anhembi Morumbi (UAM), Universidade Potiguar (UnP) and UNIFACS.
The young social entrepreneurs came together for a week at UNIFACS for classroom training to supplement the distance learning the young leaders completed during the last two months. To continue the expansion of the projects and efforts led by these young leaders, they will receive technical support to strengthen and develop their respective initiatives. The selected young leaders will also join the YouthActionNet® international network of social entrepreneurs, which includes more than 1,000 young social entrepreneurs from 89 countries that are having a positive impact on the lives of more than two million people through their work.
During the ceremony, the Bahian musical group Voices of Ingenio, provided attendees with a taste of African music and dance. The ceremony was also attended by William Reese, chief executive officer of the International Youth Foundation (IYF); Joel Adriance, coordinator of IYF in Latin America; Rosa Moraes, director of communication for Laureate Brazil; Professor Joaquim Fernandes Manoel de Barros Sobrinho, the chancellor and dean of UNIFACS; and Professor Marcia Barros.
