Short Film by Universidad de Las Américas Faculty is Pre-Nominated for a 2016 Oscar

“History of a Bear,” directed by Gabriel Osorio and produced by Patricio Escala, is one of the 10 short films pre-selected by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to complete for the Oscar in animated short films in 2016. 

“History of a Bear” was one of more than 60 short films considered. It was selected based on the quality of production. The short film has won more than 20 national and international awards. The 3D animated film is 10 minutes long and tells the story of a bear who yearns to have a family.

The short film will now compete to become one of five finalists, which will be announced on January 14, 2016. The selection of the winner will be announced on Feb. 28, 2016 at the 88th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, California.
