Seventeen Universidad Andrés Bello Research Projects Recognized by Fondecyt

In late 2014, Chile’s National Commission for the Development of Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT) announced the projects that would receive support from the National Fund for the Development of Science and Technology (FONDECYT) in 2015.

Seventeen different projects from Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) were recognized, confirming UNAB’s position as the top private university in the number of research projects and the amount of support received from the government. Eight of the projects were from the university’s school of biological sciences, six were from the exact sciences, two from the school of medicine and one from the school of social sciences.

Dr. Alfredo Molina, UNAB’s director of research, spoke about the funds to be received to support the university’s research. “These accomplishments are in line with the university’s mission. Through the research that takes place at the university year after year in our laboratories, classrooms and facilities, we are supporting society through the systematic creation of knowledge and understanding,” he said.

Dr. Molina also explained that being selected by FONDECYT “will allow us to continue to exponentially grow the number of indexed publications. Today we are among the top five universities in Chile with the largest number of articles published in the top scientific journals from around the world.”
