Professor Oscar Hipólito Elected Vice President of the Council of Rectors of Brazilian Universities
Professor Oscar Hipólito, rector of Universidade Anhembi Morumbi and chief academic officer of Laureate Brazil, was elected vice-president of the Council of Rectors of Brazilian Universities (CRUB – Conselho de Reitores das Universidades Brasileiras). The election process took place during the group’s 86th meeting in Brasília in late June. Professor Hipólito will serve a two-year term that starts October 2015 and will work with president-elect, Professor Benedito Guimarães Aguiar Neto, from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie.
“Becoming part of the council reinforces my life-long commitment to supporting the evolution of higher education in Brazil,” said Professor Hipólito. “The CRUB plays a vital role in supporting exchanges between the different universities that are part of the system, which plays such an important part in our country’s continued development.”
Created in 1966, CRUB’s purpose has been to promote partnerships and exchanges between the country’s higher education institutions. It is the only national organization that includes all segments of Brazil’s large and growing higher education system.
