From July 31st through August 2nd, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas hosted the 16th National Educators Conference. The conference was titled "Citizenship Education - Challenges and skills for living in the world today”. The conference was created by UPC 16 years ago to provide Peruvian teachers with a forum where they can gain access to professional training and development.
The speakers and the speeches they delivered at the 16th conference included:
- Abraham Magendzo (Chile): "A comprehensive look at citizenship education: Conceptual issues, building the definition of citizenship, successes, tensions and obstacles."
- Dario Ugarte (Peru), MINEDU: "National Citizenship Education Proposal"
- Jaime Solano (USA): "The OAS and its contribution to the development of a democratic culture through education."
The first day of the event was hosted at the Colegio Médico, with the final two days taking place at UPC’s Monterico Campus in Lima, Peru.
