Universidad Interamericana de Panama receives institutional accreditation from the Minister of Education

Universidad Interamericana de Panama (UIP) received the official certificate of Institutional Accreditation from Panama’s Minister of Education Lucy Molinar, in a special ceremony held on Wednesday January 16 at UIP’s headquarters, confirming its commitment to quality higher education.

In addition to the Minister of Education, the event was attended by the Secretary General of CONEAUPA, Dr. Marian McPherson; the Chief Operating Officer of Laureate Panama, Juan Manuel Pinedo; the Rector of the Universidad Interamericana of Panama, Dr. Stanley Muschett; Director of Undergraduate Programs, Prof. Gloriela Gold, as well as other academic authorities, members of the Executive Committee of Laureate Panama as well as faculty, students, alumni, and staff.

The ceremony formalized the delivery of the Institutional Accreditation certificate, which was received in December as established by the CONEAUPA and represents an important milestone for the university, strengthening the educational project that aims to raise the quality of higher education in Panama.

During the ceremony, Minister Molinar stressed the importance of the accreditation process that took place in 2012 in the country and she said that "assures us we have sound educational institutions that will guarantee the future of our students and consequently of Panama. In this sense, the University must be aligned with the requirements of the development of the country." She also congratulated the entire faculty and all staff of the institution for having completed such a demanding process.

For his part, Dr. Marian McPherson, speaking on behalf of CONEAUPA, recognized the effort required by the accreditation process and stressed "the great improvements and developments experienced by universities through the accreditation process. We are on track, and we have universities committed to the education system such as Universidad Interamericana de Panama", he said. Finally, he thanked the members of the peer observers and the Technical Evaluation Unit (UTE) for its rigor and proactive role during the process.

Dr. Stanley Muschett, Universidad Interamericana de Panama’s Rector, emphasized in his closing message of the ceremony, "the emotion that comes from receiving this recognition, which is also a responsibility." He thanked the efforts of everyone involved and added: "We have reason to be proud, but we can’t stand still because our goal is not yet attained, it is a goal that needs to be constantly renewed and updated."

In this regard, Dr. Muschett stressed: "The University was created to integrate the diverse universe of knowledge, to create and disseminate knowledge and act on behalf of the welfare of all partners. We should acknowledge and reiterate that the University carries out a project that is constantly redefined. It is a beacon to guide humans to produce knowledge and to guide their relations with the environment."

“As a private university, Panamanian society entrusts us with their main asset: its human resources and expects us to support them in the construction of knowledge, as we guide them in the acquisition of skills and competencies and orient them on the path of civic values ​​and attitudes” said the Rector.
