UVM hosts the first Forum of Sports Management at Campus Coyoacan

Universidad del Valle de Mexico, Campus Coyoacan hosted the first Forum of Sports Management on Wednesday, August 15, 2013, that included the participation of former athletes and executives from various domestic and foreign institutions. The purpose of the event was to analyze the current situation of sport in Mexico, from three different perspectives: "Sports Management", "Health and Physical Activation", and "Legislation, Public Policy and Recreational Facilities." Each theme was discussed by experts in the field of sports management.

The Sports Management Forum provided a framework for the President and CEO Laureate Mexico, Dieter Holtz, to announce the launch of the creation of the "UVM Award for Sports Management". This award seeks to recognize individuals or organizations working for the benefit of sport management in the following categories: Public Sports Management, Sports Management Private Sports Promotion from the Society Civil and Sports Journalism Award. This winner of this award will be unveiled on November 7, 2013.

Many experts attended the forum to share their experience and knowledge with the guests assembled. A few panelists include Jesus Mena, head of the National Sports Commission (Conade) and Olympic medalist; Horacio de la Vega, director of the Sports Institute of the Federal District; Luz Acosta, Mexican Olympic weightlifter; Paul Smith, CEO of Grupo Marti and Deputy Felipe Muñoz, President of the Sports Commission of the Chamber of Deputies and Olympic medalist.
