With the aim of disseminating and promoting new thinking and new trends in business, Universidad del Valle de Mexico organized its First International Conference on Business focused on "Green Business and Sustainability" at Campus Querétaro on October 27 and 28.
Sustainability impacts economics, ecology and society and this international forum addressed the relationship between these three areas and how their contribution can be maximized when they are properly integrated. Through the First International Conference on Business, UVM seeks to create a stream of positive and constructive thinking focused on economic, ecological and societal development.
The conference program was composed of:
- Four panels devoted to understanding the aspects of developing green businesses, including: visions of sustainability, green business and sustainable economic development, the legal framework for sustainable development and sustainable engineering applications
- A workshop delivered by worldwide award-winning chemist Luis Manuel Guerra
- A roundtable at the end of the conference entitled "The media and the environment"
Panels were developed, moderated and delivered by experts in the field of sustainability to students, faculty, business leaders and other interested members of the local community. Panelists included: Rodrigo Guerra, Dr of Philosophy from the International Academy of Philosophy in Liechtenstein; MSc. Dolores Guadalupe Santoyo Renaud, Director General Garamex; Erwin Gert René Roofthooft Luckermans; Leopoldo Javier López Rodriguez, Deputy Director Corporate Liaison and Communication SAPSA, Peñoles; Guillermo Enrique Marcos Tamborrel, Senator Queretaro; Bernd Schreiber, Director General Festo Pneumatic, S. A.; Ian Wolff Westrup, Cofounder and Director General of PlanetUp; Ruben Colomo, technological dissemination Manager Microsoft Mexico; Jose Berrondo Mir, Vice President of Technology and Projects Mabe; Rafael Fernández Quirós, Vice President of Public Affairs and Communications Coca-Cola of Mexico; Jaime Septién Crespo, Dr of Theory and Methodology in Communication from Universidad Complutense de Madrid; Sandra Reynoso, Producer, filmmaker and host of programs (tv and radio) focused on the environment; Lawrence Murray and Stephen Thomas Kiernan from University of Dublin, among others.
The International Business Congress responds to the need UVM has identified to develop new business models. UVM is developing a series of programs focused on green business and sustainability that will be launched in 2012 and is working to raise awareness and create open space for dialogue and discussion about the different views on this important subject.
