The Master in Project Management at UNITEC is the only program in Honduras that has earned accreditation from the Global Accreditation Center (GAC) of the Project Management Institute (PMI). The accreditation brings a number of benefits to graduates from UNITEC’s project management programs, including external validation of the value of the degrees and increased visibility among employers.
To earn the accreditation the university participated in a rigorous evaluation process that started with a thorough self-assessment of the mission of the program, curriculum design, faculty qualifications, and the resources in place to support student success.
Peer evaluators then visited the university, evaluated the self-assessment and had the opportunity to meet with members of the academic community, including students, faculty and staff. Based on the visit, interviews and a thorough review of the university, PMI granted program accreditation for seven years.
"Project management has become a critical component for organizations, leading to growth in demand for training. Given the need, UNITEC created the Master in Project Management and based it on PMI standards,” said academic vice-rector Marlon Brevé. He highlighted that UNITEC is the first university in the country to receive GAC accreditation and the third in Latin America.
