Universidad de Las Américas Recognizes Leading Journalists

The leadership of the School of Journalism at Universidad de Las Américas in Ecuador delivered its annual award to recognize Ecuador’s top journalists. This year, the university recognized Janet Hinostroza and Roberto Omar Machado for their professional achievements and contributions to the field of journalism.

Janet Hinostrozathe, director of 180 Degree Productions, is a leading figure in investigative journalism. She earned her reputation for her tenacity and hard work in the media in Ecuador and Colombia. Following many years in the field, she took over directing and hosting 30 Minutes Plus. Today she is recognized among the top television interviewers in the country. Additionally, she is a columnist for a number of leading newspapers and radio shows. She recently completed a documentary, "Nelson Serrano, I Am Innocent," which she recognized as one of her most important professional accomplishments.

Roberto Omar Machado, following in the footsteps of his father Carlos Efraín Machado, has been an active participant in promoting and supporting the development of soccer in Ecuador. Machado is a sports journalist, director of Mach Deportes, a popular Ecuadorian sports radio station, and a contributor to Más Fútbol on the Teleamazonas channel in the country.
