At the end of May, Universidad de Las Américas Ecuador hosted its first Ibero-American DirCom Conference in Quito. The conference was organized to create a space for discussion regarding the role of communication and how communications can be managed and integrated globally. The conference was attended by some of the leading communication figures in the region, including: Ángel Alloza, director of the Corporate Excellence Foundation(CEF); Alejandro Formanchuk, president of the Argentinean Association for Internal Communication (AAIC); and Paulo Nassar, president of the Brazilian Association for Communication (BAC), among many others.
During the conference, Alejandro Formanchuk, president of the AAIC stated that, “communication is an opportunity to create action,” and he encouraged participants to create their own opportunities. The conference was beneficial to students and faculty because they had the opportunity to attend speeches and panels composed of communications leaders from the region. Students also had the opportunity to attend workshops that focused on specific trends and opportunities in the field.
