In a ceremony that took place at Hotel O’ Higgins, the city of Viña del Mar named five new ambassadors. The role of the ambassadors is to represent the city in the vital areas of knowledge and education and to promote Viña del Mar as a host for future events. Dr. Rolando Kelly, vice-rector of Universidad Andrés Bello’s Viña del Mar campus, was named one of the new ambassadors, based on his work on education in the region and throughout the country.
Together with Dr. Kelly, four other leaders were named as new ambassadors. They include: Roberto Ampuero Espinoza, writer and former Minister of Culture; Darcy Fuenzalida O´Shee, rector of Universidad Federico Santa María; Jorge Gallardo Escobar, president of SLAGO (Latin American Symposium of Gastroenterology and Oncology); and Marcos Veragua Contreras, president of the Latin American Association of Public Relations.
The Viña del Mar ambassador program was created by the city to bring together leaders from the region’s education and cultural institutions and leverage their expertise to support the continued development of the region.
