Universidad Viña del Mar Celebrates its 25th Anniversary

As part of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of Universidad Viña del Mar (UVM), the institution organized a series of activities for students, faculty and officials to celebrate this important date in the history of the institution.

At the student level, the Office of Student Affairs (DAE) in conjunction with the General Directorate of Undergraduate Programs recognized students who excelled in 2013 in academic projects, athletics and sports area and in university engagement. For faculty and employees, the university hosted a number of activities including a birthday party, which was held at the newly reopened discotheque Scratch in Ciudad Jardin. On site, UVM officials enjoyed games, dances, shows, and awards.

Alongside these activities, the institution hosted the UVM 25th Anniversary Cup, during which Vina del Mar’s professional football team, Everton, played against Club Deportivo Huachipato. The event was attended by officials, employees and students of UVM, who all enjoyed a pleasant and sporty atmosphere in the Lucio Fariña Stadium in Quillota.

On Tuesday December 10th, the university hosted the Gala Concert at the Pergola Club de Campo Las Salinas. This event was organized to recognize employees with 10 and 20 years of service. To close the evening, the band Worlds Reunited presented their new album called Gabriela sings in colors.

The commemorative events for the anniversary of the university will culminate on December 16th with the photo contest "25 years in a Picture", which will recognize the picture which best displays the history, people and milestones of UVM.

Additional activities are being planned for 2014, since the aim is to celebrate for a whole year this important date in the history of the university.
