Architect of Chilean Miner Rescue to Speak at Universidad de Las Américas Chile

Laurence Golborne, Chilean Mining Minister and leader of the operation that saved 33 miners trapped more than 2,300 feet underground, will address students, faculty and staff of Laureate International Universities on November 29, 2010 at 19:00 (local Chilean time). José Pedro Undurraga, Rector of Universidad de Las Américas de Chile, will host the event, which will be broadcast through streaming video throughout the LIU network.

Minister Golborne earned international recognition for the pivotal role he played in leading the rescue during the recent Copiapó mine disaster. An experienced engineer, entrepreneur, and statesman, Minister Golborne has said the rescue was one of the most rewarding accomplishments of his life. Minister Golborne will share his personal story of the rescue, as well as the unique personal and professional experiences that led him through challenging and rewarding roles in both public and private sectors.
