The prestigious Quacquarelli Symonds rating (QS), one of the most recognized international ranking of universities, has designed a whole new way to rank colleges, the QS Stars. The goal of the program is to provide a ranking system that looks at all of the attributes a world class university ought to have, such as teaching, research, employability, internationality, community involvement, infrastructure, online education, and access, among others. In total, more than 50 indicators are measured and stars are awarded based on the scores received in each indicador, with five stars being the highest rating.
Universidad Andrés Bello, in its ongoing quest for excellence, underwent this new voluntary assessment and earned four stars. According to the results, of the 86 institutions in the region that decided to participate, UNAB is one of the top 10 institutions of higher education in Latin America, and the only one in Chile. This certification proves that UNAB is a highly international college of excellence in the areas of teaching and research and provides students and scholars an excellent environment to do their work.
"We are the first institution of higher education in Chile to participate in this ranking. I think this reflects our ongoing commitment to enhance quality. QS Stars measure comprehensively and thoroughly every attribute of our university, in many instances in greater depth than is normally done through voluntary university rankings. This motivates us to further develop and enhance what we have building," said UNAB Rector Pedro Uribe.
