Universidad Andrés Bello recognizes graduates with the 2012 Alumni Award

Alumni including the Minister Secretary General of Government Cecilia Pérez, journalist Julio César Rodríguez, Deputy Secretary of Culture, Carlos Lobos Mosqueira and athlete Denise van Lamoen, among many others, were recognized for their outstanding efforts with the first Universidad Andrés Bello Alumni Award.

"The Universidad Andrés Bello Alumni Award is a way to recognize our students and graduates who contribute to Chile’s national development each and every day. We want to help make their efforts, from each and every academic department at UNAB, more visible,” explained Francisco Santa Maria, Director of Alumni.

The ceremony was held on November 29th in the Colonial Salon at UNAB’s Casona de Las Condes Campus in Santiago. The recognized alumni and the awards they received include:

  • Universidad Andrés Bello Alumni Award - Cecilia Jara Pérez, Minister Secretary General of Government
  • Faculty and Staff Award - Dr. Colomba Norero
  • Alumni Athletic Award - Olympic athlete in Archery Denisse Van Lamoen Gomez and triathlete Matias Brain
  • Alumni Research Award - Dr. Alvaro Muñoz Castro
  • Alumni Culture Award - Undersecretary of Culture, Carlos Lobos Mosqueira
  • Alumni Entrepreneurship Award - Leonardo Meyer Zúñiga, Journalist
  • Alumni Social Responsibility Award - Ingrid Baier and Ignacio Silva
  • Alumni Teaching Award - Macarena Rodríguez Luengo
  • UNAB Alumni Partner Award - Banmédica, Page Personnel and Clinica Cuidad del Mar
  • Award for Best Alumni Center - Chemical and Pharmaceutical Graduates
  • Awards for each degree program - The dean of each of UNAB’s schools and degree programs selected a graduate from their respective areas who has made significant contributions at the regional, national or international level..
