The Law degree program at Universidade Salvador (UNIFACS) received the best results from all private higher education institutions in Bahia in the examination of the Brazilian Bar Association Order of Lawyers (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil - OAB). All graduates from law degree programs at accredited institutions take the exam. Passing the exam is a requirement to be included in the tables of the OAB as a lawyer, as provided in Article 8, IV of Law 8.906/1994. According to the results, 52% of UNIFACS students who took the exam passed, compared to the average obtained by students from state institutions was 23%.
Established in 1996, the law degree program at UNIFACS has accumulated a historically high rate of passing the OAB examination, which is critical for professionals in the field, because only those approved are entitled to practice law in Brazil. Starting 2010, the OAB has created a ranking of the best institutions in the teaching of law based on the average performance achieved by students that take the exam. UNIFACS has appeared among the country’s best 50 programs seven times.
