In March, the Rio Grande League Against Cancer hosted an event to celebrate the new equipment and materials purchased through the donation of more than 72,000 BRL that were secured through Universidade Potiguar’s work on Pink October, a campaign to secure funds to fight cancer. All the equipment is intended for use in the league's clinic.
In attendance were the superintendent of the league, Dr. Ricardo Curioso; the director of Polyclinic, Dr. Ivo Barreto; UnP’s president, Marcus Peixoto; and UnP’s marketing director, Flavio Bezerra, and employees of the league and UnP.
Dr. Curioso spoke about the importance of the donations that enabled the purchase of this equipment, which are urgently needed by the clinic. "Maybe we cannot judge what impact this will pose to the poorest of Rio Grande do Norte, which is our focus," he said. "This material has enabled improvements to this unit, which was in dire need of equipment. So we can only say two words: thank you."
Peixoto welcomed the opportunity to contribute to the League. "I thank you on behalf of the UnP! We are proud!" he said, stressing also the importance of the partnership. "I hope this partnership, which is of a long standing, keeps yielding fruit for our community. We are two major entities that do much together, and we can do more!" he concluded.
