Through a partnership between the Laureate International Universities network and Banco Santander, two students from Laureate Brazil have been selected to participate in the "Top China" program. The winners were Nicholas Barbosa Wuo, a student in the International Relations program at Universidade Anhembi Morumbi, and Marcílio Angelo Fernandes da Costa, a student in the Marketing program from Universidade Potiguar (UnP).
The Top China program will take place from July 4th through July 27th at universities in Beijing and Shanghai. Classes will focus on Chinese language and culture, as well as studies on "Processing and Management for Sustainability", with the goal of stimulating discussion and exchange regarding issues of global concern. Among the cultural activities, the students will visit the Great Wall, the Peking Opera, Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City and the Shanghai Museum. 355 students from all over Brazil have participated in the Top China program since it was created five years ago.
This is the first trip that Nicholas, from Anhembi Morumbi, has taken outside of Brazil. "The knowledge that I acquire during the trip will be of paramount importance to the continuation of my studies," said the student, who was selected by virtue of his academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities.
Marcílio, from UnP, was selected for having achieved the best scores from among other participants in the institution and due to his excellent performance in the foreign language exam. "I want to deepen my understanding of Chinese culture so that this experience can contribute to my academic and personal development," he said.
