Universidade Anhembi Morumbi has just signed a partnership with one of Brazil's leading hospital systems, Beneficência Portuguesa de Sao Paulo. Through the agreement the health care institution becomes a teaching hospital for students from Anhembi's Medicine program and creates a powerful opportunity to support the training of Brazil's future doctors.
"Anhembi Morumbi is proud to work with such a respected organization like Beneficência Portuguesa de São Paulo because students will have the opportunity to work in a health care institution that is a national medical reference," said Dr. Sergio Timerman, director of the School of Health Sciences at the Universidade Anhembi Morumbi.
Dr. Timerman points out that in addition to expanding knowledge and providing contact with real situations and everyday patients at the Hospital, the experience will stimulate the development of clinical reasoning and contribute to the development of future medical students.
The initial agreement is that approximately 60 students from the fourth year of Anhembi's program will intern at Beneficência Portuguesa. However, by 2013 the number is projected to grow to more than 200 students. In addition, there are exciting opportunities to expand the partnership to other areas of the School of Health Sciences at Anhembi Morumbi, like Beauty and Wellness.
"Quality care and educational improvement have always been the core values of Beneficência Portuguesa of Sao Paulo. We partnered with Anhembi with the possibility of integrating with an international education network that has brought innovative methods in medical education to Brazil. As a result, we can promote the improvement of the medical professional in Brazil," stated Fabio Teixeira, Director of Beneficência Portuguesa of Sao Paulo.
