UAM opens Brazil's First Spa School

In August 2010, Anhembi Morumbi further strengthened its leadership position in innovative higher education when it opened Brazil's first Spa School at its Spa & Wellness Center on the Centro Campus in Sao Paulo.

The inaugural event was attended by many members of the Anhembi Morumbi community and invited guests, including entrepreneur and television celebrity Ana Hickmann. Hickmann not only visited the new installations, but also shared her point of view on the center and helped unveil the commemorative plaque with the help of Anhembi's Rector, Gabriel Rodrigues, Vice-Rector and CEO of Anhembi, Ricardo Grau and Director of Anhembi's School of Health Sciences, Dr. Sérgio Timerman.

After visiting the extensive facilities, Hickmann stated she had never seen anything like it in the market. According to Hickmann, the Spa has everything and will be a reference point in the teaching of Health and Beauty Sciences, further proving the importance of professional development in this area.

Vice-Rector Grau spoke about the potential opportunities the center will provide for hands on learning, a key element of Anhembi's innovative programs in Health and Beauty Sciences. "Here students will find everything they need for a high quality and practical education. Giving students the best resources to support their learning is the central goal of Anhembi Morumbi and Laureate International Universities."

The Spa is part of Anhembi's existing Health Science clinics on the Centro Campus. The new space will focus on providing services in Esthetics, Professional Make-up, Podology, Naturology, Psychology and Nutrition that will be delivered to the local community at below market prices.

The center opened to the public on August 22nd and receives patients from 7am to 10pm, Monday through Friday. The public can make reservations by phone at (11) 2790-4653.
