Professor Dr. Telmo Rudi Frantz is the new Rector of UniRitter. With more than 40 years at the helm of leading higher education institutions in Rio Grande do Sul, Frantz replaces Professor Flavio D'Almeida Reis, who has led the growth and transition of UniRitter from a college to a University Center and becomes the new Chancellor of UniRitter.
Dr. Frantz earned a PhD in Social and Economic Development from the University of Paris (Panthéon-Sorbonne), in France. Frantz served as Secretary of State for Science and Technology of Rio Grande do Sul from 1995 to 1998. His professional career includes leadership positions at Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, where he served two terms as Rector, Vice Dean of Research and Graduate Studies for eight years, and as a Professor.
"I am honored to assume the position and responsibilities as UniRitters new rector," said the new Rector in his inauguration speech. "I will work hard to give continuity to the legacy of the former Rector," he added.
In this position, Frantz becomes responsible for all academic affairs of the institution, in order to maintain and further develop the activities of teaching, research and extension. "We are proud to select Professor Frantz to become the new Rector of UniRitter because he very aligned with the culture of this city and has unquestionable qualifications," said the CEO of UniRitter, Eduardo Mendonça.
The Investiture Ceremony was held on May 10 at UniRitter's Porto Alegre campus. During the same ceremony, Flavio D'Almeida Reis was named UniRitter’s new Chancellor. The title of Chancellor is a recognition of the work and dedication of Flavio D'Almeida Reis to UniRitter as it has become one of the most important institutions of higher education in the Rio Grande do Sul.
"In addition to the resume and academic management experience that my friend Telmo Frantz possesses, I feel secure in my job transfer at UniRitter because I see the projects that will ensure the future of the institution that my father built" said Reis. "I strongly welcome the new rector and reaffirm his fit with the culture and philosophy of the institution. UniRitter is in good hands," he added.
In the view of the Director General's Academic Brazil Laureate, Professor Oscar Hipólito, who is also Rector of Universidade Anhembi Morumbi in Sao Paulo, "UniRitter’s brand credibility is invaluable and is, above all, directly linked to Flavio and his conduct as a teacher, leader and mentor of the academic community." UniRitter recently received major accolades, among them the best University Center in the Metropolitan Area, with a grade 4 in the assessment from the Ministry of Education.
According to Mendoza, UniRitter keeps its management model focused on academic excellence and sustainable investments. "This is a guideline that supports the design of quality growth," he says. UniRitter has 8500 students spread over two campuses, located in Porto Alegre and Canoes. They offer 31 undergraduate programs, 33 specializations, four master's programs and one doctoral program.
