The social communications course at Centro Universitário do Norte (UniNorte), a part of the Laureate International Universities network, won five awards in three categories at the Experimental Research in Communications Show (Expocom) at the 15th edition of the regional event, held this year in Boa Vista (Roraima state).
This year, Expocom gave awards to 48 academic projects by students and recent graduates from across the north of Brazil. Of the five awards that UniNorte won, one was for the best junior agency and its agency portfolio project, entered by student Evelyn Castro. Also in the “Advertising and Marketing” category, students Liesberth Barbosa and Thaís Caroline Félix won first place.
Dani Gonzaga and Benevides Netto, graduates of the Radio, TV and Internet course at UniNorte, won awards in the “Film and Audiovisual – Documentary and Radio” and “Television – Video Fiction,” respectively.
The coordinator of the social communications course, Edilene Mafra, who attended the Expocom ceremony with a group of students from the department, said the award demonstrates the quality of the course’s programs, reflecting the students’ and teachers' talent.
"This is a result of what we do in our daily lives, in our academic activities, in interdisciplinary work, and in experiences at the Experimental Agency,” Edilene said. “They just applied and won. Everyone is to be congratulated – students, teachers, and the institution, for providing the conditions to do this work.”
