Law students from Centro Universitário do Norte (UniNorte) won the second Félix Valois Coelho júnior law simulation, which was organized by the Brazilian Bar Association (Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil) for the Amazon region. The goal of the Brazilian Bar Association in creating this competition is to provide students with hands on experience in the field of law.
Six public and private higher education institutions from the region competed in the simulation. The UniNorte team first beat a team from Faculdade Martha Falcão, went on to defeat a team from Universidade Federal do Amazonas (Ufam), and in the finals won the competition by beating a team from Escola Superior Batista do Amazonas (Esbam).
The UniNorte team was composed of students from the eighth semester of the law program: Joel Ribeiro, Izolina Monteiro and Wilian Torres. They were supported by their professors Goreth Rubin and Natividade Maia in the three months leading up to the competition. Wilian Torres dedicated the victory to all the students and faculty from UniNorte and UniNorte’s law school. "This victory is for the entire UniNorte family," he said. He wants to encourage other students to compete in this and similar competitions.
For professor Goreth Rubin, the victory is representative of the dedication of the students, who spent three months in preparation for the event. Rubin believes this type of event not only enriches the academic experience of students, but also better prepares them for future professional success.
