Laureate Brazil’s Director of Hospitality and Gastronomy participates in The World's 50 Best Restaurants Award

The British magazine ‘The Restaurant’ has drawn up its final annual list of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

The prestigious ranking, which has been awarded since 2001, is drawn up by a select group of 800 international food critics, chefs, writers and gastronomes, divided into 27 regions around the world. Rosa Moraes, director of Hospitality and Gastronomy at Laureate Brazil, was asked to serve on the jury.

Brazil is represented on the list by the already well-established D.O.M., in São Paulo, owned by chef Alex Atala. The restaurant, which has been climbing the ranking in recent years, has reached an impressive fourth place, ahead of the renowned Per Se (New York, USA) and The Fat Duck (Bray, England).

First place is still occupied by the Danish restaurant Noma, followed by Spain’s El Celler De Can Roca and Mugaritz, which retained their positions from last year.

The winners were announced on the evening of May 30, in London, England, at a party attended by Rosa Moraes, Atala and Thomas Keller, the owner of the restaurants The French Laundry and Per Se, who received the Lifetime Achievement Award, an honorary award made annually by the magazine, which celebrates great chefs’ and restaurateurs’ successful careers.

  1. Noma (Copenhagen, Denmark)
  2. El Celler de Can Roca (Girona, Spain)
