Universidad Europea Names New Rector

Universidad Europea has named Isabel Fernández the new rector of the university. Dr. Fernández has a doctoral degree in information technology and replaces Dr. Águeda Benito, who will become the new rector of Kendall College in Chicago.

Fernández has taken on the challenge of leading one of Spain’s leading private universities and ensuring that it continues to deliver on the promise it has made to its students, graduates, employees, and the community at large, delivering high quality academic degree programs that help students develop the skills and values they will need to be successful.

Isabel Fernández completed her studies at Universidad de Oviedo, where she initiated her work in research and teaching. In Madrid, she earned the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals. She has been an instructor in business schools like ICEMD-ESIC. Following a period as a researcher, she worked as a consultant for private companies in a number of different industries including: banks, insurance, airlines and telecommunications. She has worked for companies like Carrefour, Mercadona, El Corte Inglés and Consum.

Dr. Fernández joined Universidad Europea in 2012 as the director of the Polytechnic School and in 2014 was named general director and rector of Universidad Europea de Canarias.
