Over 550 attendees gathered at the Third International Dental Conference in Madrid, jointly organized by Universidad Europea and New York University. The goal of the conference was for leaders to gather, learn about the latest trends in the field and how to integrate this into enhancing professional practices. Speakers included national and international leaders in the field.
The conference was organized by Dr. Jaime Jimenez, director of Universidad Europea’s master of dental Implants, and the only Spanish professor at New York University’s department of periodontology and dental implants. Dr. Jimenez explained, "There are now many schools and techniques for different implant treatments and through this conference we are bringing national and international universities together to unify practices."
Dr. Jimenez continued, "Today there are many methods to place the implants, which impacts final results. Hence, the patient has to know that the oral surgeon has enough knowledge on the subject and appropriate training to carry out their treatment."
In addition, dental implants, like other specialties within dentistry, have two key areas: surgery and prosthesis. "Being aware of the important role of dental implants, one of the goals we set at the planning of this conference, as we set daily in the training of students, was to unite the two concepts so that attendees get the complete picture on surgery and prosthesis," highlighted Dr. Jimenez.
