Universidad Europea Opens New Dental Clinic

Javier Fernández-Lasquetty, Minister of Health of the Community of Madrid, and Ramon Soto- Yarritu Quintana, President of the College of Dentistry and Stomatology of the First Region of Madrid participated in the inauguration of Universidad Europea’s new Dental Clinic along with Otilia de la Fuente, CEO of the university, and Elena Gazapo, Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the University.

The clinic, which is approximately 2,000 m2, will be staffed by a team of 53 dental professionals and will be able to serve up to 400 patients a day. Services provided include preventive dentistry, holistic dentistry for adults, pediatric dentistry, cosmetic and restorative dentistry, prosthetics, endodontics and surgery among others. The clinic is equipped with the latest technology to deliver the most advanced dental treatments and techniques. The clinic also includes a simulation laboratory where students in the final year of the Degree in Dentistry may apply acquired knowledge to clinical practice, under the supervision of professors who will join the faculty of the clinic.

The new University Dental Clinic aims to become a reference health center for the citizens of Madrid. As noted Elena Gazapo, "At the School of Biomedical Sciences at Universidad Europea we seek to develop health professionals with a solid knowledge base who are dedicated to serve society through personalized health care and most innovative dental treatments." In this regard, Fernandez - Lasquetty wanted to highlight "the importance of providing training of the highest quality and the best means to train future dental professionals."

More than 150 students in different programs offered through Universidad Europea’s Graduate School of Dentistry and the Advanced Endodontics Master in Advanced Oral Implantology, Prosthetics, Cosmetic Dentistry, Advanced Orthodontics, and Advanced Periodontic Dentistry, will complete their internships in the new Dental Clinic.

Universidad Europea has two other university clinics: the University Polyclinic and the University Dental Polyclinic in Valencia. These centers provide students with practical experience that complements the classroom knowledge they have acquired through programs in Dentistry, Podiatry, Optometry and Physiotherapy, and several Masters and postgraduate courses related to these fields.
