Brothers Luis and Vicente Gil de Sola, both Aerospace Engineering students at Universidad Europea, received the first prize in the Innovaciencia Award.
The award is organized by the National Research Council (CSIC) and the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), in collaboration with the Fundación García Cabrerizo, to recognize innovative ideas and projects from young people between the ages of 16 and 26.
Luis and Vicente Gil de Sola received the award for their Satellite Power Simulator project. The panel of judges highlighted the quality and originality of their software, which allows them to study the feasibility and manage the energy program of any satellite in orbit.
Throughout 2012-2013, the first edition of Innovaciencia received a total of 56 projects in two separate categories: high school students and university students. After an initial evaluation of the work presented, the jury selected three semi-finalists who then had to defend their projects to the jury just before the awards ceremony.
