Nearly 200 children had the opportunity to enjoy a full day of sporting activities at the athletic facilities at Universidad Europea de Madrid when the university hosted the nineteenth edition of the Cross competition.
The event brought together 600 student athletes who represented a number of different universities to compete in this medium distance running event. The competition was held at UEM’s Villaviciosa de Odon campus outside of Madrid. Alongside the competition, there were special events and a full day of activities for children to learn more about the role of sport.
In the 6,000 meter race, Universidad Politécnica’s Beatriz Esteban was crowned the winner. She followed by Sandra Marquez who won the deaf category.
On the men's side, Complutense’s Miguel Hernandez was the winner of the event, with a distance of 8,000 meters, while Javier Soto Rey won the deaf category.
Before the start of the races, a minute of silence was carried out in honor of Juan Mayorga, dean of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, who recently passed away.
