Luis Bassat recognized with a Gold Medal

Luis Bassat, chairman of the Advisory Council of Universidad Europea de Madrid, received a Gold Medal from the Council of Ministers in recognition of his long and successful career in the world of Communication and Advertising.

The Gold Medal is awarded by the Council of Ministers to reward and highlight the merit of exemplary conduct in a professional field or service. In the case of Luis Bassat, it is a clear homage to a successful career leading Bassat Ogilvy, a leading media group in Spain that he founded and still serves as Honorary Chairman.

Named Doctor Honoris Causa by the Universidad Europea de Madrid in 2005, Bassat has worked tirelessly in several areas, but it's in the Communication and Humanities where his contributions have been most apparent.

A key example that has made Bassat one of the architects of modernization and internationalization of Spanish advertising are the opening and closing ceremonies of the Barcelona Olympics in 1992.

This most recent tribute is in addition to many he has earned throughout his career. Luis Bassat has been recognized by his peers among the leading advertising professionals of the twentieth century in Spain and Latin America.
