The Senate of BiTS has elected Professor Dr. Stefan Stein to become the university’s newest rector. "We are very pleased to have Professor Stein, an experienced academic leader who has spent many years working at the university, join us as the newest rector of BiTS. Together, we will develop the future of BiTS," said Carlos Bertran, CEO of Laureate Germany.
The passionate banker is a sought after subject matter expert and researcher in the fields of finance, risk management, and banking regulation. He holds a doctorate in economics and was a member of the expert advisory group for the study "Economic and Social Importance of Family" on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology in 2008. For more than 13 years, he served as managing director of the renowned research institute for banking and finance, ikf °, at the Ruhr-University Bochum and has been a member of the supervisory board of medium-sized consulting firm Moore Stephens Naust AG in Iserlohn since 2006. Prof. Dr. Stefan Stein has served as the pro-rector of BiTS over the last nine months and has served as a lecturer at the university since 2006.
"I am very proud of the confidence that the Senate places in my person and I look forward to continuing with the students the successful course of our university," said Professor Stein. "The most important thing for me is our students. They come here for the training they will need to find their dream job. This trust must be earned every day. Professor Stein’s priorities include the continued development of the quality of teaching and student services as well as advancing the university’s international programs and partnerships.
