A group of UPES students was recently recognized by aircraft giant Lockheed Martin. UPES students were named winners of a unique design challenge – to redesign a C130J Super Hercules Aircraft – during an awards ceremony held on March 8, 2016.
The challenge was initially launched in 2014. Out of five teams, only two teams were successful in transitioning to the Prototype Phase of the C130 J Roll on/ Roll off University Design Challenge. This team is awarded a grant of $40,000 to develop prototypes of the module and additional mentoring to develop a go-to-market strategy with Tata Advance System Limited – Hyderabad. The research grant is provided to work with local industry partners and mentors from Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
Since 2007, Lockheed Martin has been successfully running the India Innovation Growth Program in partnership with the Department of Science and Technology, Indo-US Science and Technology Forum, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Stanford Graduate School of Business and the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas.
