The Third International Conference on the Management of Infrastructure (ICMI) was organized and hosted by the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES) at their Kandoli campus in Dehradun, India.
Dr. O.P. Agarwal, executive director of the Indian School of Business (ISB) and former director general of Institute of Urban Transport (IUTP), was a special invitee to the inaugural ceremony and delivered a keynote address on urban transportation and smart city planning.
He remarked that smart cities will prove to be the engines of our future economic growth, but cautioned the audience about critical scalability issues. Efficiency will be key, he said, and cautioned that solid waste management and water management must be addressed. Dr. Agarwal also complimented the leadership of UPES for its efforts to create platforms like ICMI which promote intellectual deliberations.
Speakers from India’s railway ministry, port association, and transportation sector were present and more than 120 research papers were presented by scholars, experts and students during the conference.
