Torrens University Australia celebrated a significant run of firsts since opening in January 2014, including the commemorative launch of its new Adelaide campus on Wakefield Street.
Founder and CEO of Laureate International Universities, Douglas Becker, along with Minister for Education and Training, the honorable Christopher Pyne; CEO of Laureate Australia, Linda Brown; Torrens University Chancellor, Michael Mann; and Vice Chancellor, Professor Justin Beilby officiated the launch of the new campus, which included the signing of a commemorative plaque.
The new Wakefield Street Adelaide campus, designed for flexible, collaborative learning, community interaction and industry engagement, was on display with features including: open work areas; operable walls to quickly create different zones; a digital entry wall to stream live news, events and student work; and unique customizable business ‘pods’ – where graduates can begin their own business or social enterprise and industry partners can be actively involved with students’ creative ventures.
At the event, Torrens University also celebrated the securing of key industry partnerships with New Zealand’s award-winning Media Design School, the Real Madrid Graduate School, Chifley Business School and Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) – which will see a raft of new, industry-aligned courses offered to students.
In addition to its new campus, the event celebrated the university’s national campus expansion with the opening of new campuses in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne earlier this year.
