Imad Morchid, a fifth year mechanical engineering student from the school of engineering at Université Internationale de Casablanca, was unanimously voted the winner of the StarTech Africa Award for technological innovation in Africa for the 21st century.
StarTech Africa, an event focused on sustainable development and entrepreneurship in Africa, is open to all innovative technological project leaders including undergraduate and graduate engineering students from institutions across the African continent. This year, more than 64 projects were submitted to a jury of 26 professionals from technical fields and academia.
Morchid, by a unanimous vote from the jury, won the award after a brilliant presentation of his project. The jury members emphasized that, "It is everyone’s opinion, that Imad presented the best project and exceeded other projects by far, both in depth and relevance of the subject matter, and for the quality of the presentation."
