Oscar Winner, Pawel Pawlikowski, Delivers Program at Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas

Recently, Polish filmmaker, Pawel Pawlikoski, who won the 2015 Academy Award for Best Foreign Film, visited the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), at the university’s Monterrico Campus. During his visit to UPC, Pawlikoski delivered an enlightening presentation to students from the university’s audiovisual communication and interactive media program about his journey as a filmmaker.

More than 120 students were in attendance at the presentation, which gave students an opportunity to directly learn about Pawlikoski’s filmmaking experience and gain insight on the industry. The visit was iconic because it took place during the 6th Central European Cinema Festival, held in Lima, Peru. During the presentation, Pawlikoski shared his experience of filming Ida and responded to questions from the students regarding the process of making a movie, the importance of teamwork, among many other topics.

“To make a movie, you need to be able to tap into emotion, without having to exaggerate. For me, the most important thing is making a movie that I would actually like to see. This is just my opinion, because there is no exact science behind filmmaking and each director needs to find their own way,”

he said.

Through these types of special events, UPC aims to re-enforce its commitment to delivering the highest quality education with a global perspective, while helping their students succeed not only in Peru, but around the world.
