Media Design School Short Film Escargore Announced as Finalist in the 2015 Animago Award

According to the organizers of the animago AWARD, which have been celebrating the achievements of digital artists since 1997, the awards acknowledge the “best works in the fields of 3-D animation and still, visual effects, and visualization.”

In 2015, the animago AWARD received over 1,000 digital submissions from 58 countries and from this pool of entries, five films were selected for the final shortlist in each of the nine categories. Escargore, which is described by director Oliver Hilbert as, “a snail horror comedy about a group of snails that find themselves out of their element and in a whole lot of trouble,” has been selected as one of the finalists in the Best Character Award category. As part of their third year of the Bachelor of Art and Design degree, 22 Media Design School students assisted with the creation of this film.

When shortlisting productions and CG characters for this category, the animago jury take five different aspects of the character creation process into consideration including: modeling, movement, facial animation, texturization and believability.

The winners of the animago AWARDS will be announced on October 15th.
