INTI Students Cook Up a Storm with MasterChef Australia Judge

The hugely acclaimed MasterChef Australia series has created a whole new generation of budding chefs across the world, Malaysia included. As such, the opportunity to cook alongside celebrity chef and MasterChef Australia judge, George Calombaris, was a life-changing experience for Niesha Lee Jia-En and Nik Faris Nik Mohd Roseli, students in INTI’s culinary arts program.

This unique opportunity was made possible through INTI International University & Colleges’ sponsorship of MasterChef Australia season six on Lifetime. The partnership is key to INTI’s mission to prepare students for successful careers and rewarding leadership roles in the food service industry, and to generate greater interest in culinary arts through its school of hospitality.

“It was a tremendous experience meeting and working with a world-renowned celebrity chef and his aides. Being out of the training kitchen and in front of cameras and an audience was a whole new experience for us and it was also fun! We witnessed how Chef Calombaris improvised to provide an Asian twist to one of his signature dishes and were given the opportunity to savor a salad dish as well as comment on the exquisite taste and texture,”

said Lee Jia-En.

“Thanks to shows like MasterChef Australia, more and more people are interested in a career in the culinary world. At INTI’s school of hospitality, we are committed to providing the highest level of academic excellence, by providing students the opportunity to learn from accomplished international chefs, teaching them cutting-edge innovative culinary skills, as well as developing and preparing them individually for a successful career in the food service industry,”

said Andrew Pennington, dean of INTI school of hospitality.
