Finalists Announced for The Laureate Award for Excellence in Robotics Engineering

The Laureate Award for Excellence in Robotics Engineering invites undergraduate students to design and build functional robots for business and industry. This year’s theme – Industrial Logistics – challenged students to design and program robots that can help retrieve and classify parts in a factory or warehouse using a mobile platform, sensor technology, and AI.

The Laureate Internal Committee, made up of engineering experts from across the network, reviewed 13 student applications and has chosen the top six projects that will advance to the finals, hosted by Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) in Lima, in September.

FINALISTS
UPC (Peru)
BILGI (Turkey)
UNIFACs (Brazil)
UVM (Mexico)
UNITEC (Honduras)
UEM (Spain)

Finalists are currently working on Phase II: Intelligent Devices, which includes a video, technical paper, the actual robot, and a cultural presentation to be submitted by mid-August prior to the finals in Lima.

The winning team will receive USD $10,000 and support to participate in a local robotics or IT competition. Second and third place winners will receive USD $6,000 and USD $4,000 respectively.
