FG Hosted UNESCO Meeting on Education and Cities of Learning
Faculdade dos Guararapes (FG) hosted the first International Workshop on the Development of Cities of Learning in Brazil. Organized for government and education leaders, the event was led by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). More than 150 attendees from inside and outside Brazil attended.
The goal of the meeting was to discuss education as a tool for social inclusion and to highlight successful practices that can inform the creation of more proactive public policies that will create new opportunities to reduce inequality. The discussions that took place during the workshop will help to set the agenda for the upcoming Second International Education Conference in Mexico City, which will take place in the second half of this year.
The schedule included round tables, case studies, and presentations with special guests Inês Miskalo, from the Ayrton Senna Institute; Dania Pilz, representative of the Ibero-American Education Organization; Murilo Pedrosa, representative of the President of Brazil; and Raúl Valdés Cotera, senior program specialist of the Institute for Lifelong Learning (UIL – Unesco).
